New technologies to fight against Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer is no doubt one of the most life threatening diseases for human being and a lot of researches were going on for combating this type of cancer. It seems that the physicians have finally succeeded to find out a way to fight against prostate cancer.
Recently two methods are adopted by the doctors. One is IGRT (image Guided Radiation Therapy) and another is IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy) There two methods provide the physicians the opportunity to give an ample dose of radiation to the prostate while treating the cancer in that organ.
There are three lines which show the amount of radiation provided to the prostate. The green area indicates that the exposure is 100% there. The blue area means 95% of the exposure and the orange light indicates50% of the exposure.
As per the statistics of the American cancer society is concern, 242 740 people are found to be attached by prostate cancer among when 28,170 are on the verge of death. This is found one of the most common types of cancer. This is why these two methods are undoubtedly one of the most remarkable inventions.
Though it is a very serious disease, if it is diagnosed early, their can be cured by the help of modern treatment techniques. In the United States 2.5 million people have been diagnosed prostate cancer but they are still living their life normally.
According to Dr. Chou “It is extremely necessary to choose the proper way of treating this disease as the chance of cure depends on it. On that note, the physicians can provide him the proper guide to choose the right method”.
In case of prostate cancer, one should first decide the way of his treatment. The type of cancer can be different and according to it, the treatment method is selected sometimes physicians go for surgery. However, EBRT (External beam radiation therapy) is one of the most modern and effective ways of treating cancer, the two said method of EBRT had made this method more effective and the chance of getting cure increases.
With the help of processes line IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy the doses of radiation can be controlled the target area and thus, it can be used only used to the tissues affected by the cancer and the normal or the healthy tissues will be loss effected by it. With this method the radiation can be given required amount as per the location and site of the tumor which is affected by cancer.
Actually, if a patient shifts a little when radiation therapy is adapted to him, the chances of healthy tissues being damaged increases. There new methods will make the method more accurate and thus the chances of side effects will be less. Thus the patient’s error can be to give more doses by damaging the normal tissue loss. Thus the success rate of curing prostate cancer is increasing day by day. New technologies are bringing smiles to the face of numerous people who are affected by Prostate Cancer.
